Wichita - ICT
Posted: 10-29-2009, 01:03 PM I heard some great things about Wichita and was wondering if it was indeed as good as it sounds.
From what i've heard it's a great place to start your career in the FAA or even stay. It sounds like it's a great place to live both in the city and around the outskirts. I've also heard that the training program is pretty straight forward. What are your thoughts. Like an Idiot i turned it down the cycle before last and had to resubmit my application. I turned it down because i thought that going to school would be better. Eh not so much, I'm doing fine academically but socially I've hit a wall. that's what i get for being 25 and trying to play with the 18 years. I'm pretty sure I was thinking with a body part other then my brain when I made that decision. Anyway, i'm hoping to get that job offer again and was wondering if anyone could say that it is indeed a great place to start. BTW i've got a CTO from the Navy if that helps any. Thanks. |

Re: Wichita - ICT
Posted: 11-28-2009, 03:30 PM I am from Wichita and visited their tower. They said it is a great place to learn because you will learn the tower positions and the tracon. It's busy because of the aircraft manufacturers, ga traffic, and military traffic. They said that it makes you marketable to the other tracons and towers because you already know how to do both. As for a place to live, the cost of living is really cheap. You can buy new homes for 100,000 which is unheard of. Another benefit is that you get to experience all four seasons, the people are friendly, the schools in the suburbs are great. Overall, I would highly recommend it, both as a great place to live and a great place to learn ATC. I hope this helps.

Re: Wichita - ICT
Posted: 12-08-2009, 12:46 PM Wichita is nice... Although it's definitely a slower mid western town compared to Orlando but not as bad as Doniphan... My Grandpa lives in Wichita so I have been visting there all my life. It has grown a lot in the past few years. They have a really nice county park on the outskirt's by the zoo. Kellog is forever under construction. Its windy... Winters can be cold in spurts but are fairly mild. If you do move there you have to go check out Nu-Way. ICT is a small regional airport but like Georgia(Rock Chalk)Jayhawk said they do have lots of manufacturers and Douglas AFB.

Re: Wichita - ICT
Posted: 07-27-2010, 04:52 PM ICT is an awesome place to start. The people that work here are great and the management is pretty laid back compared to things I hear from other facilities. The trainees do pretty well for the most part, everyone is very helpful. ICT is a level 9 facility so you will learn alot here!
