In all seriousness, I wish that the FAA started everyone out in VFR towers or no higher that a Lvl 6 or 7, this would allow new controllers to gain valuable experience. After a few years then bid up to a Lvl 9 or 10 facility, gain more experience working busier traffic in a more structured enviroment for a few years. If you still want to get into a Lvl 12 then you have a very good background of experience and knowledge that will help improve your opportunity to be successful.

Hello! Looking for anyone with actual experience in the Atlanta tower training program to answer a couple questions:

About how long is the program from developmental to CPC?
How many of the D# pay levels does it have? I would assume all of them, but just wanted to be sure.
Finally, what's the average time between upgrades on those D# levels?

And for anyone who lives in Atlanta, what apartment complexes might you suggest I look into and why?

Thanks!

1.) 2-3 years
2.) 2010, 2011, 2012 Pay bands - Jetcareers
3.) 6 months classroom and data, 1-1.5 year(s) on ground, and another year on local
4.) Look in College Park, Bankhead, Mechanicsville, Hapeville, Riverdale, Union City, etc. In fact, just listen to a T.I. song and if you hear a place mentioned look there because those are about the only places you are going to be able to afford for quite a number of years.

don't know where you got this bogus info from but way off except for the payscales. im a cpc at atl and have been there over 2 years.

total training time depends on previous experience or not. it varies from 3-4 months for people from places such as lga, clt, etc all the way up to 18 months is about the longest i've seen. i was cti, and it took me 14 months from the time i got there, which includes a 3 month "seasoning" during summer so we could have primetime leave. but i have also seen people from busy facilities drop out or even take around a year because of the amount of traffic there is here. checkout rate seems to be around 60% or so, maybe slightly higher.

as far as the living situation, you can live in one of the above places if you want to be shot and robbed a few times. go for newnan, peachtree city, sharpsburg, or fayetteville on the south side. and alpharetta or douglasville on the north or west side. i lived in peachtree city for a year and now in sharpsburg.

any other info needed?
