Denver Tower - DEN
Posted: 04-07-2009, 02:14 PM

Is anybody familiar with Denver Tower? I live in Denver so I know the area, but am curious about the tower. I am scheduled to start there in August/September and was curious about the shifts, training timeline, overtime, and anything else that might be useful info. Thanks.......

I'm jealous, I don't know much except it will be busy. I hope to transfer there once I get fully certified.

i know it's a busy tower. either a 12 or an 11. the runways are parallel are more than 2500 feet apart. trust me, that's a good thing. it's a do-able tower if u have any knack for the job at all. it is a kick butt type of facility though so don't think for a second it's a cake walk.

i'm guessing Alan knows the facility well enough to make that comment since he works right down the road in Colorado Springs.

denver would be sweet...6 runways, with a full build out to 12 in the future. 16,000 foot runways, trip simul approach.

DEN is my goal... As far as I know, they have never used they triple simultaneous approaches but even as standing, they can accomodate quads. 35L/R and 34L/R and the 16/17 are all running CAT III. From the south end its CAT IIIc

imagine a future at DEN with 8 north/south parallel runways and 4 east/west parallel.

Oh I know, I have been in the loop with the director of one of the DEN area airports for quite some time. (all 3 get all DEN info regarding the Master Plan). Hell, I knew about the "Runway Progression" before it was publicized and I dont think I'm that important

Strange thing though, there is no forseeable international traffic increase other than AA CDG in Q3 (which makes no sense) until ANA gets their 787s... It will be fun when they do as they have noted they will start DEN before SEA, LAS, and SFO.

in school i was on a research team that worked a lot with the DEN admin. we made several trips out there from Indiana. The master plan is very impressive.
