BWI Tower

What's up with the ground control transmitter at BWI? I'm disabled and monitor TWR, GND, APR and DEP from about 3 NM N and E of BWI as a hobby. 3 or 4 weeks ago the Ground control radio was strong and very clear, 5 square you might say. Recently the signal strenght has fallen off to where I have to throttle that receiver up to full volume in order to hear the controller. I would suspect my receiver, but I have swapped units. I can hear aircraft at area F, and concourse D very clearly, and an appropriate drop in strength from C and B concourses. It seems something has changed with the GC comm. radio. Is there a switch on it, like a marine transceiver to reduce the signal? Is the antenna directional? There must be some explanation. Just curious.

I was picked up for Omaha Tower under PUBNAT4, but I declined because the wife was getting transferred to Ft. Meade, MD by the Air Force. Unfortunately I did not apply to PUBNATs 5/6, but I did apply to 7. I have been searching the forums on here and Jetcareers and it seems that BWI isn't picking a lot of people up. I'll be sure to call them before the geo-pref emails come out for #7.
I know it doesn't sound too appealing, but ADW Twr is an option if you would like to get your foot in the door. I used to work there and it's only a 45 minute drive from Ft Meade; I live by there. The only issue is that ADW has a ton of developmentals now that they released a bunch of us CPC's to transfer to other facilities. With ADW being a level 6, the salary doesn't sound too great but with the new contract, it's actually not too bad for a starting position. I'd keep my options open and consider anything if you're tied down to a specific location.

I am headed to BWI after the academy. Can someone please tell me how much I will be taking home after taxes at academy grad status? I need to know to set a budget before moving there.

Thx

It's 09 August 2011, 1400 -1415. I am listening to a female controller on local traffic. How can I talk to her? I have been listening to her for some months and have some questions that only she can answer.

I didn't hear her all last week and so assume she was on vacation and returned Monday the 8th. If you are she or know who she is have, her e mail me <mhlansdell00@yahoo.com>

I worked at BWI, and know who you're talking about. I will never give out anyones personal information, but if you have any questions, she was my trainer on 2 positions and our kids play together, so I know her pretty well.
