Got my TOL for PDX in April, with no Academy date set yet. Anyone out there know anyone that works there, or has heard about the place. I'm from Utah and have never been up in Oregon. Hear it's beautiful. I'm very excited to go up there. Anyone know the hiring numbers for this facility for FY2010? Thanks.

I got a buddy who works there. He has been there for about 3 years. He loves it there. I don't know the numbers but from what my buddy was saying they are well staffed. So if they might pick pick up a couple of people. He said the TRACON needs controllers, but it's not a good work environment.

I tried to set up a tour of PDX in May, but no one would return my calls. I showed up to the tower twice and someone who works there told me that the management isnt very good.
Portland is definately a beautiful city and somewhere I would like to live. It rains ALL the time, but you get used to after a few years.
Good Luck!

I lived in Hillsboro, OR half time for three years, which is about 30 minutes west of portland airport. I liked it a lot. I would have loved to work in PDX or the tracon. I toured the tower last march, it was pretty cool. i havent heard anything about bad management.

now i am going to seattle, which is where i am from so it is all good.

So are you working as a controller in Seattle or just moving?

Hey, I'm currently enrolled in a CTI school and am interested in taking a tour of PDX tower sometime in the near future. I was wondering how I should go about contacting someone to set up a visit and tour (if possible). Anyone know who I should contact or point me in the right direction of where to look?
