Honolulu Tower - HCF
Posted: 01-26-2010, 10:15 PM

I was just wondering if anyone who either works or is going to work at HCF could give me some info on how everything works there. Where do you start working first? After you check out at all positions, how does scheduling work in terms of working in the tower vs enroute? Difficulty of learning / working terminal, enroute, and approach at once? Is the pay worth all the extra things required to work there vs an ORD or LAX? If anyone knows these things I'd appreciate the help. Thanks

Cisum... if you don't find the answers you're looking for here, give Scott, HCF's NATCA rep, a call. I've spoken with him in the past and he's been pretty helpful in answering some similar questions.

There are three Hawaiians in my tower basics class now who are all going back to work at HCF. From their initial conversations with the tower manager it sounds like they're pretty full up for a while, I guess there was talk of sending one of them directly to RTF.
