are you off the street? cti? military? you'll need to apply as soon as you a job announcement open and request your preferred state when the time comes. you can't request certain facilities, but in the remarks section of your state preferences you can put that you only want a certain facility. idk how familiar you are with this stuff, but this isn't like your typical job where you walk into a place and apply.

D21 is located at the tower. I realize the perceptions of Detroit....especially now with a possibility of GM packing up and leaving, but it really is not that bad of a place.

Heading to D21 in July

Grew up in Detroit area. Know all about it. All my family is there so its not me reading things in the news paper. Lets see a football team who can't win a game, an ex mayor more crooked than the detroit river, 3 casinos downtown losing money (really a casino losing money?) not to mention the big three taking a dump, and a governor who was on Obama's transition team to tell him how bad the economy is....

Loved it growing up but couldnt pay me to go back there right now. hopefully this city/state can turn it around in the future.

Like everywhere else I've worked in the FAA, places seem to be cyclical. Right now we are getting rid of the main problem in the TRACON and things should get better. Good group of fellow controllers and first lines are pretty good right now, plus you can get a great deal on a house in the area lol.

I am sure most of us know what the Detroit area is like, but what is the facility itself like? How new is it, what type of equipment, what about staffing?

I've been reading quite a few horror stories regarding OTS going to level 11 and 12 facilities after the academy and washing out. Does anybody have any insight regarding this specific facility's success rate for new hires?
