Really? That's great. I had heard he retired. Somebody who worked with him at I90 told me this. We used to call him "The Beast". He is an outstanding controller.

    New York Tracon - N90

I am a cpc thinking of making the move to N90. It is my hometown area. Is there anyone in training there or recently certified that can give some insight on what it's really like. I don't want rumors, only first hand knowledge from people in the mix. PM me if you want. Any information would be great.

Seeing that ATC is a quickly-changing industry, it's customary around here not to re-open threads that are 1+ years old if it's not absolutely necessary.

I got unofficial word I'm proposed to go to N90. Question is, would it be unwise to start studying now (airspace, frequencies etc) even before going to the Academy, or will the shit I need to know at the academy be overload with all the N90 stuff? Just want to do everything I can to ensure success.

you dont know what sector you are working, I assume they break it down a little... so seems like there is a HIGH chance ur learning bogus freqs and such.

just study up on the basics, pass okc, and work hard

im here now, don't waste your time studying anything...worry about okc...you will have your hands more than full when you get here. everything is sector based training except for the airspace map...and for the love of god don't even start to think about that.
