Re: Potomac TRACON
Posted: 07-10-2009, 07:14 PM 2 miles against traffic vs 20 with traffic. Lots of devs have stayed in both somerset pointe (gainesville) and highland commons (warrenton), i know one that lives in bealeton and he says that his place is nice (waverly maybe?) but wishes he was closer to people. But if you have a family bealeton might be the better option since you can get a larger place.

Re: Potomac TRACON
Posted: 07-11-2009, 10:03 PM Racoogle (or anybody who knows)
For those working at PCT who own/will be buying soon, what areas do they live in? Although I still have a long time to wait, I'm already researching different areas near Potomac. Centreville seems to have a lot of potential (10 miles down 66, much closer to DC suburbs etc). As far as Bealeton goes, it looks like it could have a lot of potential to be nice and very affordable with a good commute...but being young and single, I think I'll take a location with a better chance at a social life Thanks, -Matt |

Re: Potomac TRACON
Posted: 07-14-2009, 07:59 AM Centerville is closer to the city, plenty of places to go out and meet people, and more single people, and therefor more expensive. Gainesville has some good places to go out and is a little cheaper than centreville, while still on 66. you'll have plenty of time to figure it though with the prices around here haha.

Re: Potomac TRACON
Posted: 07-14-2009, 04:24 PM I'm slated for PCT, no class date yet. I am looking at places to live. I'm also interested in the schools out there. My Fiance is an elementary teacher. I want to live somewhere affordable and easy commute for the both of us. That really depends on where she gets hired too. Would it be worth my while to fly up there to meet and greet the PCT staff?

Re: Potomac TRACON
Posted: 07-15-2009, 05:14 PM Any info on PCT that is not pertaining to class dates? I heard they have a really good training program there and they retain about 80%? Is it easy to move to different sectors if you get bored after a couple of years? Also when the command center is built how many people will be going there from PCT. any info would be appreciated.

Re: Potomac TRACON
Posted: 07-16-2009, 08:36 AM I (obviously) am not working at PCT yet, but when I toured there a few months ago, the gentleman giving me the tour was boasting about the fact that almost all their trainees get certified. Many of the people (including controllers) that I spoke with commented on how solid the training program is for new controllers etc.
They also have a very badass simulation room for training.... I think I should go tour there again, just to make me feel like I'm closer to starting ![]() |
