Denver TRACON - D01
Posted: 10-19-2009, 02:10 PM I'm wondering how many sectors D01 is split into and how much area the airspace covers? How is the training program and the hiring outlook for the next year, and how long on average does it take to become CPC? Thanks in advance.

Re: Denver TRACON D01
Posted: 10-23-2009, 07:10 PM Let's see...
* 3 Feeders with a possible 4th soon. * 4 Finals * 3 Final Monitors * 4 Departures * 3 Satellites * 2 Remote Radars from Grand Junction and Pueblo It's up to FL230 and generally encompasses a 42 NM radius from DEN with an extension to the north to butt up against CYS and a small extension south to overlap COS airspace. The rest, I dunno... ~Nate |

Re: Denver TRACON D01
Posted: 11-06-2009, 10:45 PM I believe D01 is in a staffing crisis. Not that they are short of bodies but short of quals. I read on here there are 7 new slots to fill this fall but they are looking for people with Radar, Vra or Reinst to fill them after some mess with washouts. That's just what I have heard... Make sense, good luck tho!

Re: Denver TRACON D01
Posted: 11-07-2009, 01:34 PM D01 is no longer accepting any more OTS hires. They realize that they need people with at least some experience now.
Average time to become CPC is just under 2 years to 2 and a half years for those under the specialization track (either departure or arrival specialists). Anyone new coming to D01 from here on out will NOT be given a specialization and will need to get every position in the room before becoming CPC. Therefore, expect 3 years or more to get fully checked out. P.S. Nate, we already have 4 feeders. The 4th is already being used every now and then, even when not necessarily needed. |

Posted: 11-12-2009, 07:25 PM Is D01 still taking CTI grads or are they just looking for VRA and CPC transfers?

Re: Denver TRACON - D01
Posted: 11-13-2009, 12:18 PM As far as I know, they are still taking CTI grads. They're currently trying to get up to 9 CPC transfers right now last I heard. Not sure if they have slots for CTIs, but in the future they probably will. They just don't want OTS people that don't know a single thing about ATC or aviation, because then they really have to start with the basics.
