Yankee tracon - Y90
Posted: 11-14-2009, 08:59 PM

I grew up in East Windsor right across the river from BDL. I am currently working in ELP ATCT/TRACON. I was wondering if anyone can give me an insight to the facility. Any information would be appreciated. I know Jay S. from the Marine Corps and I couldn't get a hold of him. Thank you.

What's this facility like? It seems like the whole Connecticut state is a good place to live, but what is the tracon like? How new is the building, what kind of equipment, seeing how it is only a level 9 I cannot see it being extremely busy, but what is traffic like, what are the controllers attitudes like? Thanks.

New building with STARS around 2000. A ton of overflight traffic between Boston and New York. 3 other towered airports within 10 to 15 miles. Overall a fun mix of traffic. BDL is not very busy but Y90 can become complex with the other traffic added in. Good group of controllers; manager is a tool.
