Re: No bonus
Posted: 03-05-2011, 06:27 PM 20g's is a good reason to get involved. Makes sense to me. The union gets involved with new people for much worse reasons than this... I'd take it to my rep, his rep and so on up the chain to get it addressed. You are not the 1st person to get the run around.
Which is pretty bullshit, because when I went through even tho they were not the speediest, at least they let us know where we were in the process and that it was slowly moving. (got it about 1 week after graduating) |

Re: No bonus
Posted: 03-08-2011, 03:03 PM They no longer offer bonuses for new hires...
It was to attract controllers with prior ATC experience back around the times of the "Imposed Work Rules" (before the new contract). Now that the pay scale has been fixed for the most part, experienced controllers are starting to apply in masses so there is no need for the FAA to pay out 20K per applicant. Makes sense to stop it in my opinion... every business does it. As for the original poster... if it was included in writing on the announcement that you were hired under then you should definitely fight for it. If you meet the requirements to actually receive it then I don't see how they could legally deny giving it to you. I see grievances filed over petty, stupid stuff... this would be a damn good reason to complain in my opinion. Good Luck. |
