Posted: 08-10-2011, 09:07 AM Does anyone have the letter explaining the Change of Station Leave?
I have seen it posted online but I am unable to find it in the search. Thanks |

Re: Change of station
Posted: 08-20-2011, 05:18 PM Don't know where it's at but you have 64 hours to use for anything related to change of station. It expires 2 years after you PCS. If management thinks you are abusing it then they may ask you for a reason for taking the leave. Then all you say is, "I'm house hunting." Or, "I have painters coming to paint the house."

Re: Change of station
Posted: 08-22-2011, 09:11 AM My experience is that the recieving facility is who you usually apply for it with. They don't have to approve it, but generally will since you're useless. If the facility you're leaving is okay staffing wise, you might get them to approve it on the way out instead.

Re: Change of station
Posted: 08-22-2011, 10:47 AM I did mine with the facility I was leaving. Depending on your management, you may have to submit a formal request outlining your reasons for using it.

Re: Change of station
Posted: 08-24-2011, 10:26 AM We have to use the regular leave request form. They never turn it down; like Mike said, just tell them you're house hunting, having maintenance done, whatever. It'll show up in Cedar as "other" leave.

Re: Change of station
Posted: 02-08-2012, 02:01 PM Ya I've had some issues trying to figure out how to request the time off to get down to my facility when I finish school in here in Oklahoma. I'm stationed in Chino,Ca and I've got to move from the San Francisco Bay Area down there. I asked my tower manager and he said I finish PVs on Wednesday Feb 29, and I'm being given 1 day travel so I need to report in Friday at 8 am. I'm thinking I'll have to not go home and fly straight to Ontario from here and start working, but I would really prefer to be able to have atleast 2 days to get home, pack my stuff, my girlfriend and our dog and get down to Chino. When I asked him about the getting the leave, he said he didn't know but would look into it. Whats the form called that I should be looking to fill out to see if I can get the time off?

Re: Change of station
Posted: 02-09-2012, 11:59 PM If you're not there in person, asking a supervisor via email should be enough. I'm not sure what he'd need to "look into". It's not like COS leave is a new thing. It's in the contract, Article 29 (Excused Absences), Section 4:

It may just be a misunderstanding on his part about what you're asking for. |

Re: Change of station
Posted: 02-10-2012, 01:37 AM I'd highly suggest just taking TWO days or whatever the min is. If he wants u there in one day dont be all "WELL, I'm allowed 64 hours of COS leave, sooo... ill let ya know what I need"...
haha. Plus after you have been there a while its nice to take a day off "for free" |
