Its kinda an inside joke that controllers are alcoholics, also, I would say that 99% of americans have been drunk/tipsy at least once in their life.

Ok so by your thinking I can smoke pot , sniff cocaine and shoot heroin as long as I don't do it on the job ! An just so you know I must be in the minority because I am not an alcoholic and I have been a controller for 27 years.

once again the alcoholic is an INSIDE JOKE. Not so inside. Its a joke. As a 27 yr controller I'd hope you have heard it b4.

Also, alcohol isnt against the law, nor does it x out your Med Clearances. So as long as you do it off duty and are clean when you go to work... its a COMPLETELY different story than doing coke/pot. Bad analogy.

A better one would be something along the line of sexually suggestive talk toward the opposite sex. At work thats ground for trouble, EEO and all... at the bar its a different story.

I do not think Mrdinghy would be fun to hang out with because he is super lame and a slacker. I have been a controller 10 years and have a drinking problem enough for the both of us so I am doing my part for the union.

Your right I am so boring but I have a impeccable FAA record ! You seem the type that needs NATCA to bail you out when you get in trouble.

I think we are getting caught up in the drinking alone and
not looking at the bigger picture. Most social drinkers who
get a DUI do it once and that becomes a life changing event.
They get straight real fast, I've seen it personally twice.

Someone like the guy Mrdinghy is talking about has some
serious issues, multiple DUI's, some not reported (That's
enough to fire you alone) then the hit and run, which shows
a level of irresponsibility above and beyond the first time DUI
offender, combined with the other stuff is the makings of a
rightous termination.

Still, he deserves a defence. Still, I'd hate to see him reinstated
as this guy has some serious problems that will definitely carry
over into his work life. He's the kind of person who covers up
serious deals, steals from the government and co-workers,
falsifies travel documents and who knows what else.

Though I usually disagree with Mrdinghy, I'm with him on not
wanting a guy like this controlling my family.

Now, under NATCA's current policy I'll be paying approximately $1107.33 in annual dues (1.5% of the old pay scale). If they charged me 1.5% of what i'll actually be making, I'd only be paying $828. I will actually be paying $279.33 more than I should.

They're doing it out of principle by not recognizing the validity of the new pay scale, but they're also sticking it to their members in the mean time. I understand they are allowing folks to apply for reimbursement, but as Roddy said, why not just save me the headache and not take it from me in the first place?
Anyone have current info regarding dues and the FY2012 payscale?
