Being a member of NATCA is like having an insurance policy, you hope you never have to collect. If you go your entire career without needing NATCA's help to protect you against managements stupid attacks then awesome. But have a deal, or have some other problem, then watch out because most of the managers out there now will try to shove the knife in deep then twist the blade.

The issue is much deeper than one guy getting banned for calling a moderator a "fascist". Since I'd probably get banned from the BBS by talking about it here, we should probably just not worry about it.

I'm all for joining the union, but until the new hire pay is changed (soon?) I don't blame the newbies for waiting to join. I have not met any controller that held it against a new hire for waiting until D1 to join. Most understand that the pay is ridiculously low and it's hard enough to make ends meet w/o worrying about paying dues.

Anytime someone asked me if I was in the union or if I was going to join, all I would say is, "yeah, after I hit D1". Their response, "yeah, that makes sense", or "yeah, I don't blame you."
