What do you think about splitting of facilities?

I personally see that as very bad for controllers, but just interested in what ya'll think about this. I have read about the picketing at MCO.

To elaborate on this.....what happens to the controllers at a facility that is split up? Do they bid on which of the two facilities they work at?

funny how the faa started to combine facilities in to large tracons like PCT and others because they said it increased safety, saved money, was better for the environment, etc ... and now they are using the same reasons to explain the splitting of facilities like MCO, PHL, and CLT. How does it work both ways? I think the FAA is the only one who can come up with the BS to explain that away.

this makes no sense, by splitting the tracon from the tower they are becoming more like the large tracons. In that they only work radar.. I am really confused by your logic here..

I am indifferent to the whole thing i wouldnt mind working both, but id be lying if i said i wasnt happy my time to cpc was greatly reduced..

I think it is complete and total crap that they keep building these elaborate and fancy TRACONs and Towers. I work in the busiest ATC facility in the world and have to worry about getting asbestos poisoning, drink nasty brown water from a 50 year old water fountain and try 15 times to get in the door with an access card. But hey...there is a new command center, new approach control and tower here in ATL.

They were gonna give them a brand new state of the art facility with all the gadgets and gizmos....but then they heard you were going to be there and they were like "hey lets :p:p:p:p with this guy....we'll even give him shit trying to get in the door". :

so you would have no problem when the FAA down grades the tower and you lose 4 to 8% of your base pay.dont think it WILL HAPPEN ??????
