Green Book Back Rumor from The Main Bang
Posted: 03-07-2009, 03:11 PM

The Main Bang

After reading the BBS responses it seems the question asked at the meeting was, "What time frame are we looking at to return to the green book?" Pats answer was, "Hopefully within two weeks". These are not actual quotes but you get the gist.

According to the NATCA BBS, someone who was there said that the meeting in question was actually over two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I still had to wear dress shoes to work this morning.

I wish I had something to say besides "holy crap this could be awesome" but that's about all I can come up with at the moment. I hope the rumors are true.

This isn't the biggest news of my life. When it ACTUALLY HAPPENS...then it will be the biggest news of my life. I don't give a shit about rumors, he said/she said crap or any press release. When I go to work in jeans and see a pay raise, then I'll be excited. Til then, i'm just gonna keep worrying about getting rated...

even though that's on hold for 7 month while I go to Iraq...

Good news, yes. Biggest news of our lives, that's a stretch. This thread had 160 views in two days, that's pretty good. If the purpose of this post was to inform people, good job. If it was simply for people to pat you on the back for being such a good errand boy and telling everyone what you FOUND, tough luck.

Seriously, what did you expect? For everyone to throw you a party and nominate you for president?

...and getting mad because nobody posted...c'mon. Anger on the net is like a gay midget chasing tall women...it's pointless. Cheer up, and good luck to you as well.

at no point were any gay midgets harmed during the creation of this post

The biggest news of my life will have absolutely nothing to do with my job. I can guarantee that. We've been hearing rumors for 2.5 years about going back to the way things were. I would say probably 70% of the new generation air traffic controllers were hired under the white book. So they are mostly okay with everything at this point...anything extra is icing on the cake.

We'll see what happens...but I'm guessing the lack of posts could be that everyone is sick of rumors.

All that being said, I will eagerly await what comes down the pipeline this month.

i just want to share/confirm what i've been reading and hearing...

i was excited when i began reading these post, primarily because i thought, as i suspect most of you do, that the green book meant an instant increase in pay. i had to confirm the rumor so i talked with a friend of mine who has been with the faa for about 2yrs now. he said that the rumor is true. we are likely to be back on the green book in a very short time. however, this does not magically fix all the problems with pay. he said it is definitely a step in the right direction, and is essential to resuming talks, but if everything goes smooth, which as we know with the gov't usually isn't the case, there is a possiblity that we, meaning faa controllers, may see relief by fall at earliest. i have obviously not read the green book, but he has and seemed much less excited about the rumor than I was and still am.

i realize that this is still great news but it's not the end of the battle as some may see it and it is very likely that the new contract will not be negotiated for some time.

any thoughts?
