Probationary period - question
Posted: 04-28-2009, 12:04 AM

Wonder if anyone knows the answer. I just thought about it today and haven't had a chance to call HR at OKC to ask yet.

What if you were a controller in the FAA for 2 years. Did your probationary period no problem. Eventually resigned and then got re-hired. The second time you get hired, do you have to do the 1-year probationary period AGAIN??

not sure it matters. but the second time getting hired was under a VRA announcement and not a reinstatement announcement.

I believe they told us on the first day that any work got the government in the past counted or eliminated your probationary period.

No probationary period. If you completed 11 months and 2 weeks, then quit (like I was smart enough to do), then you will have to complete another 1-year probationary period when you get re-hired.

I think they told me I was on probation for 25 years, or something like that.

So does that mean anyone who is prior military (non atc) does not have a probation period?

Every new-hire has to do the probationary period. Now, if one were in another job within the DOT, your probationary period might be waived, I don't know.

Military, whether it was ATC or not, are still subject to a 1 year probationary period.

It basically gives them the right to fire you without cause.
