National Office Update for July 13 Ref: PAY
Posted: 07-20-2009, 01:17 PM Does anybody else have issue with this???? This is a copy and paste from the email I got.
"There will obviously be some adjustment to the current pay structure based on the presentations given by the parties. I am unable to divulge any specifics concerning what has been argued until the process is finalized. What we can be sure of is that any changes to the pay system will require programming through DOI, and that will take some time. Therefore, we may not see any changes to pay until after the New Year. The arbitration panel will decide whether any of that will be retroactive to the implementation date of the contract." So on Aug. 5th when we get our new pay scale and rules we will not see any of the money until Jan 2010.....And it may or may not be retroactive?? We have been shit on enough already. We have waited long enough already. If I get one more person telling me to hang in there and stay the course I will choke the shit out of them. How about we take 25% away from the controllers that are making full CPC pay until Jan 2010. I bet that would go over real well. Even after all is said and done the B-scale people are going to get the shaft. Say they give everyone 15% across the board. We will still be making less money than most of our co-workers. We will still be B-scalers and yet asked to perform to the same level as the A-scalers everyday. I am not sure about other facilities but at mine some of the A-scales are some of the most complaining and laziest controllers we have. NATCA has had three years to prepare for this and yet it seems they are still going to screw it up. |

Posted: 07-20-2009, 01:38 PM Sidenote, I believe the new year refers to the fiscal year... since we are talking about fiscal matters... Jan 10 really has no significance to the govt.
that sounds right, doesnt it? |

Posted: 07-20-2009, 03:48 PM W/o the union, the B-scale would be here to stay, if not go lower. The A-scale would remain frozen, again, if not go lower. So the fact that the union has fought to get our grievances on pay and the other portions of the non-tract heard and to finally get some sort of justice and compensation means nothing? As much as I hate the whole lobbyist sector of our government, that is what got our problems heard. Lobbying costs money as does research and all the other processes that were involved in getting things in motion. If you don't want to be part of the union, that is entirely your choice. Just don't blame it on them not getting your pay back to what it was, that fault lies with the FAA. They union has done what they could. And for those that opt to leave the union or to not join at all, you lose all right to complain about what's going on and to have your voices heard.

Re: National Office Update for July 13 Ref: PAY
Posted: 07-20-2009, 04:40 PM If you signed up under the B scale, you have ZERO things to bitch about. ANY more money is a raise in that case and you should be happy.
If you've come in in the "1700 boat", then I feel your pain because we're in that boat together. I'm somewhat optimistic that the B scale will be abolished, but the "A" scale will just canvas the entire range of salaries. Might get a 5-10% bump from the current pay, but will have to put in the years to make the 125K. I'm also somewhat optimistic about the 1700's situation. Seems as though the union argued our situation separately (as they should have) and we might potentially get bumped to what we are supposed to be making right away. New Year and Fiscal year are 2 very different things. Pretty sure Pay meant what he said, New Year (2010). LAST time I say it, but everyone should be paid equal for equal work. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way. There is a lot of animosity on the part of the B scale people who came in after the IWR towards those that came in before the IWR. Dunno why, maybe it's like the crabs in a barrel (one starts to climb out and the others want to drag it back). |

Mr Carr is to blame for us being in this mess. He started this pissing contest. No one wins a pissing contest. You just end up stinking and with yellow stained shoes. For me this means over $500000 over the next 15 years. Throw in retirement and it just keeps adding up. You want to give up over $500000??? If so I have a bank account number for you. |
