1440 rumor

Just heard from a NATCA friend- The arbitrators did not realize that the 8% raise would only last for six months and they are revisiting the issue.

That's quite the tease there.

Our local VP sent us this after the FACREP telcon on Monday the 17th:

Quote:
3. The 8%. The way the article is written, in June 2010 the devs who were hired prior to Sept 2006 will get an 8% raise, and then in Jan 2011 they will go to the bottom of the new higher payband, effectively negating the 8% raise. NATCA, FAA, and the arbitrators have a scheduled meeting later this week to get clarification on the issue. NATCA believes the intent was to continue the 8% raise as one moves through the new paybands. We will hopefully get clarification soon.
Expecting anything more than a temporary 6 month raise at this point is, well... optimistic. I'm a pessimist, and if we get 8% in the long run, then I will be plesantly surprised by the results. Better than being extra pissed if I get excited about the 8% and we don't get it, IMHO.

I agree, but I am cautiously optimistic because I can't imagine them purposely giving the 1440 a 6 month raise and then knowingly have it disappear. Besides, why would the arbitrators want to discuss this at a later point if they wanted to keep their decision status quo? It just doesn't make sense, but then again this is the government were talking about.

My personal opinion is that this will be addressed and changed for the better.

I'll drink to that when I see it in my paycheck :-D Or at least when it's been bindingly arbitrarily clarified/awarded (if my bastardized english makes any sense ).

I was in on the 4pm telcon today. Pat said that he doesn't believe that 6 months only was their intent, and they're in contact with the arbitrators, and hopefully they will have the issue worked out in the next week or two. He didn't imply in any way that it would be corrected, but they are working on something.

Eh, I think most of the 1440 know that without the union, they would have gotten nothing.

as 1 of the 1440...i pay my dues every month, even though it's based off the green book and not the white. thank goodness i can stop filing for the reimbursement come oct 1st or jan 1st. a real contract will be sweet. not saying what is on the maroon book is ALL sweet. just saying...having something the union and the FAA has agreed to is sweet. imposed work rules is for the freakin birds.
