NATCA Contract Ratified
Posted: 09-23-2009, 01:40 PM

Hi all,

Word passed down from NATCA has it that our contract has been ratified by an impressive margin.

Yes: 8729
No: 266

That's 97% voting in favor.

Signing I believe occurs on the 25th (this Friday) with implementation occuring on Oct 1, including all arbitrated articles. Remember though, even though the articles themselves go in to effect then, the pay scales don't change until Jan 2010 per the arbitration award.

Yay contract!

PS - The book is going to be crimson red (or the closest they can come to that color).

I know the pay scale isn't changing until the first of the year but does save pay go into effect the first of october? DairyCreamer... you seem like you know a little more about this stuff then most. If it doesn't, is it retroactive. Will they backdate or am i just screwed?

@MYKLE:

It's hard to answer your question not understanding your specific situation. I'd need more information to venture a guess. Beyond that, while I've read the contract pretty closely, I'm certainly not an authority figure on it. I couldn't speak with certaintly on much... that would be a question for a FacRep or other officer.

Yeah, it's not just about jeans. We have been dressing ourselves responsibly since the 50's but just a few short years ago the FAA decided that they needed to tell us how to dress.

It's an iconic rule done away with and now it's just another weight lifted off our heads. If jeans is your thing then, "Yee Haw!", personally I prefer shorts, but then again it's still hot here in San Diego.

Yeah for me it is working under conditions we agreed to that weren't unilaterally imposed. I am not even sure I will change what I wear much with the exception I may wear jeans on occasion. How I dress at work now(polo/khakis mostly) isn't exactly what I would call restrictive I just like that I don't have to worry about getting in trouble if my khakis aren't washed or I just feel like wearing jeans.
