LM Contract Announcement

Apparently there is going to be a contract announcement on Oct. 5th, 2009 regarding the renewal (or not) of the current FAA/LM contract. Anyone heard anything either way?

I heard the same rumor today as well. It will definitely be interesting to see
what happens. Many are betting that Lockheed won't renew since they aren't making a dime on this thing. I for one would be happy to go back to the FAA. It would not be ideal to have another company takeover. They would likely be ignorant to flight service as well and repeat many of the same mistakes that have been made.

speaking of new rumors...

I got word from someone at a C-site that their manager told them because of the complaint filed with the DOL, LockMart is paying 6mos of pay to all level 2's making level 1 pay, plus 6 more weeks of severance pay for those laid off.

I asked around today and no one has heard anything yet. I am pretty confident we will see some money eventually as its a pretty solid case.

No word on LM slicing the contract...FAA Administrator says they're just rumors!

If FAA was dropping FSS, who would be fixing all the Duats flights that have "bombed out" at Flight Data?? Who would take calls from the Duats Reps, who for some reason, couldn't figure out how to file their own flight plans!

We all need to just chill and wait it out.
