Howdy pilots!
Posted: 10-16-2009, 02:07 PM Just checking in here with you all. I'm taking the ATSAT this week. I studied aviation flight at Ohio U and grad in 2005. My family owns a 2007 Cirrus SR-22 and I try to get it up as much as possible (not much lately, after starting a new business in February). I am planning a trip to Austin, TX for Thanksgiving and will be taking my 7 month old son for his first BIG flight. *fingers crossed*
My main focus right now is in the ATC forums, but I'll have to check things out in here as well. |

Re: Howdy pilots!
Posted: 10-19-2009, 12:16 PM Welcome. Plenty of pilots around, GA and commercial.
Where you flying into when you come up (down?) here to Austin? I learned to fly in Georgetown, just north of Austin. Tie-downs and fuel are reasonably priced, about a 15 minute drive to downtown, which isn't much further if you fly into the more expensive Austin-Bergstrom Int'l. |

Lakeway's nice -- my grandparents used to live about a block from there when I was growing up. Did my first XC there too. Kind of a weird hilly runway. Watch out for sightseers over Lake Travis; there's occasionally a helicopter that likes to wander around at about 2000' or so.

Re: Howdy pilots!
Posted: 11-28-2009, 06:17 PM We just made it back to Ohio from Lakeway, TX. The trip was a blast. The friends we visited live in a gorgeous ranch about a mile from the airport at the top of one of the hills. I logged 4 hours of IMC on the way down and had a BEAUTIFUL flight home with 20-40 KNOT tailwinds. Ya' can't beat a day like that! :-)
My 8 mo. old son did awesome too. He slept most of the flight. |
