ATC job in Wilmington NC
Posted: 01-25-2012, 01:54 AM Hi I am a Tower controller in New Zealand
I have family in Wilmington and have thought about the possibility of coming over to work in the tower over there. I have an ICAO recognised ATC licence with an aerodrome rating. I was wondering if someone may be able to give me some idea on what sort of training would be involved, if I would get paid for the training time, salary after training and maybe if there is staff needed at ILM tower. Thanks |

Hi thanks for your reply. I am a US citizen. I was born in California and have a US passport. My family moved to New Zealand when I was 6.

Re: ATC job in Wilmington NC

I don't think you would be able to direct hire into Wilmington but would have to get in line with the other people waiting to be hired by the FAA. Although you have your license, your situation is the same as say, a US military controller who has their CTO. You're qualified, but you would still have to go to the FAA Academy. If you are hired by the FAA your training would be on a paid basis. Your pay would prorated and would increase as you worked your way up the training ladder. You would start at $37,070 US. That being said, there is no guarantee you will be placed at Wilmington. This job announcement will fill you in on some of the details. Good luck.
