Re: ATC in South America???
Posted: 09-19-2010, 06:37 AM Hello, guys!
Well, I`m a brazilian Air Traffic Controller and here I`d say that 95% of ATC is done by military. Everything is rulled by the Air Force, even the ATC that are not military. We have around 1 to 3 years of training, including military stuff such as drilling, PE and those kind of things... After the military school, most of us have a military training and then we go to the facility where we`re gonna work. Salary: 3000 reals (Brazilian money), something around 1800 american dollars per month. After 21 years of service, we receive our last promotion and start earning 5000 reals (3000 dollars). With 30 years, we retire. Those who are not military are usually at towers. There`s not a big difference about the money tough. The thing in military ATC is: we are paid for what we are, not for what we do. It means that we get the same salary as another military that is not an ATCO, including those who work with music, administration, health care etc. |
