Well, local control training begins! I must say, it is nice to be checked out on ground, but the training continues. I'm slowly picking up our local SOPs so that's a plus. I must say that just paying attention to what local does while you're on ground helps out a lot. While you may not fully understand what is going on, you will once you get on local control. Traffic is hit or miss though, unless there are military operations going on. Then we have to sequence them in with radar's IFR arrivals, which is pretty exciting. I must say that I've had a couple squeakers, meaning I've run it a bit tight sometimes, but it's worked out so far. Thus, I just have to get used mixing C130s, commercial and general aviation...easier said than done with only 10 hours on position!

Random question:
I am about to start training and a friend of mine who just went through the class advised me to print out a blown up map of OK city and laminate it and study it hard. I think he is talking about the IFR chart? Do you know of any website that I could find the "map" to print it out?
Thanks.Posted 10-29-2009 at 02:43 PM by AWTaylor
