Who's your (in)famous CCTLR?
Posted: 02-22-2010, 09:02 PM So we have all had insane CCTLR's before, but some of them really take the cake. ATC is a pretty small world especially inside a specific service, and from what I've seen, some of these whack jobs are known by the majority of people in a given facility. I found out at only my second duty station 8 or 9 people had either experienced the same nut bag as I had or heard of them and some of the crazy stories before. The WS had to ban anybody not in position from being in the IFR room one Sunday because a HUGE discussion started about how crazy this guy was and everybody was telling stories and people were getting HEATED (all agreeing though.) I've even had MAJCOM Functional Chief (E-9 working at higher HQ) tell me he knew my old CCTLR, that all the other Chiefs couldn't stand him, and called him an "@sshole" in front of a room full of E-4 and E-5's.
So who ya got? Mine was Cheif Vallaley (sp?). I'll tell some stories later, but I'm curious if anybody else has heard the stories first. Also, I've heard some pretty crazy stuff about a Chief Hanning, but I've never had the pleasure. Go. |

Re: Who's your (in)famous CCTLR?
Posted: 02-22-2010, 09:11 PM LOL...I've heard of the first, and dealt with the latter (but not recently).
It's all about how you approach them and paying the so-called "price" for messing up. Everyone has different attitudes, it's just a matter of figuring out how these Chiefs function, and avoiding doing anything intentionally that would set them off. |

Re: Who's your (in)famous CCTLR?
Posted: 02-22-2010, 09:27 PM LOL!! Valaley was my first CCTLR (MSgt at the time though) and I had made up my mind with in the first couple of weeks of being at my first duty station under him I was not going to re-up. He was overbearing and the biggest hypocrite I have ever met in the USAF. Just one of the nutz stories I can think of off the top of my head; he had this one dude who failed his room inspection in the hallway between the Chief's office pushing a shopping cart up and down the hallway with trash from his room in it for 20 minutes at a time yelling "North end secure! South end secure!" whenever he would hit the end of the hallway where the doors were. Then he would get 10 minute "breaks" where he would sit in a card board box with pictures of what his room looked like taped to the top, and he had to wear a garbage bag around his shoulders like a homeless person. When ever anybody would walk into the hallway, he would have to jump up to attention and yell "I DO NOT DESERVE AIR FORCE HOUSING!" It sounds funny, but it was pretty sad actually. That dude used to abuse the piss out of us just so he could make his next stripe. I hated that dude.

Re: Who's your (in)famous CCTLR?
Posted: 02-23-2010, 09:53 AM i was actually deployed to balad with CMSgt vallaley and we go along pretty good. he has a funny sense of humor as weird as it sounds....but i seen the people he didnt "approve of" had a pretty miserable time.. you have to carry the air force line and bleed blue around him or you are a dirtbag...
