That sucks man. Bad. I thought it was bad when someone gets a deployment that gets cancelled a few days prior. Then the person has to find a new appartment, sometimes ship a wife/kids/stuff back to their base, etc. I can't imagine that happening on a PCS and to JAPAN no less.

On a side note. I didn't think you could BOP overseas. Just CONUS.

Just curious as to how you came to that conclusion? Nellis tower is canned. All traffic is sequenced to final by approach (to include overhead traffic vectored straight down the pipe). There's no pattern work so other than an unplanned go around, there's not even a sequence to call. Have you ever listened to Sally Control during a Flag recovery or worked AR625 during flag? Just my opinion I guess but, the tower is not busier than radar. I was dual qual'd there too.

I was dual qualified there too. The tower is not more difficult. No way.

Some tower guys always seem to think that tower is busier than radar...which is probably true in some cases I guess. Dual qual'd.

I don't have any radar experience at Nellis, just came to that conclusion having seen a handful of radar peeps come upstairs and get their asses handed to them. Could be anomalies, I don't know.

Hahahaha! That's the funniest thing I ever heard considering that you just concluded this based on very limited knowledge and mostly opinion and because it was ALWAYS the exact opposite of what you said. Tower folks found the Natcf tough! Let's not forget that radar never goes to tower unless they HAVE to get the CTO for some reason. So they're not really trying or anticipating having to work. And please don't tell me you're counting the officers as "radar people" just because they got their pink cards signed before they trained in the tower.
