I'm curious to see the break down for these civilian deployments but most of my deployments we worked 12-hour shifts (no breaks of course) so I don't think the pay will be anything special unless it's counted as a 24-hour rate. The tax free rate on the first $80k is nice since you have no expenses away. Only problem is most civilians are somewhat higher ranking with local commitments (house, family, etc.) back home so they can't move out of the dorms like Airman and bank while away...

A lot of bases are already doing it. We expected 6-month deployments every 15-months. That was the rotation when I got out and it was only getting worse. If you were a CCTLR you were doing 1-year rotations similar to a short tour (I think they were even trying to change it into one)...

I'm at Little Rock AFB and we still get some decent traffic here, though much of it gone down down compared to 20 years ago. Budget cuts and better simulator training in the big reason.

I got rated with 9 in the VFR pattern and just last weekend we had 10. Kinda fun.
