Air Force Reserve?

Anyone on here and AF reservist or know anyone who is? I am thinking about it when I get off active duty to help suppliment my families income while in training for the FAA. Are there any issues with it and FAA training? What are the fallbacks to doing this other than still being in the military and working on your days off? Does the FAA give new hires any problems for being a reservist? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I do know a few guys who are IRR right now but as to Active Reserve I will inquire for you to see if I can find an answer.



Question you applied via a VRA announcement correct? You should be better off than the OTS and the CTI people as from the get go you will receive AG pay.


If I am not mistaken you are headed for PCT, the AG pay + locality is 40k + per diem so not bad if you are coming from the military.

yea the pay isn't bad at okc with perdiem and all. But once I get to my PCT I will no longer get per diem which will be a huge pay cut. The GI Bill helps a lot but will still be pretty tight on cash until I get D1 or D2 pay. The nice thing is that I will be filling an E7 slot if I go active reserve which will pay for my medical/dental plus give me about $150 or so left over. If I were single I would not even consider reserve but, every little bit helps when you are married and have kids. I will have to be IRR if I do not go active for 2 years anyway.

dont forget GI bill which is almost $1000 a month. If they call you to active after your checked out will you take a pay cut?
