Air Force ATC in Alaska
Posted: 12-07-2009, 07:00 PM

Just wondering if anyone on here had done AF ATC at Elmendorf or Eielson AFB in Alaska. Those are the bases I want to try to get stationed at after basic and tech school.

right on. I believe Ill be done with tech school in June.

I see your from Wyoming??? Ill be in Cheyenne doing my OJT at the ANG base. Wheres about are you??

And dude, I would love to get stationed at those bases ur were asking about, as well. Alaska would be sick! I went guard cause the active duty recruiter told me he wouldnt put ATC in my contract. The guard did.

Eielson was my first assignment in the Air Force. It's about twenty miles from Fairbanks. The temperatures range from -40 to 80s. Any place is what you make of it. I worked with people who loved the area or hated it. The ones who hated it never got out and tried to make the best of it. Not a great place if shopping is your priority. If you enjoy a laid back community it is great. They have KC135s and F16 stationed there. They also host Red Flag three time a year where many fighters come up and go play war for two weeks. A guy from my tech school class got Stationed at Elmendorf and loved it there. Definitely more of a city life and more complex ATC. Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope I helped.

Sorry to say, but forget about Germany because they won't take 3 levels anymore. I'm fairly positive all overseas are like that now.
