quickest to CTO

Hey guys, I'm contemplating joining the Air Force and enlisting for ATC. I know that you don't get your CTO in enlistment so I do plan on applying for Officer (I have a college degree) and getting it that way through the command and control route of an officer.

The only problem with this is that it takes 6 years of your life...and perhaps soul?

I wanted to know what other methods can I take to get my CTO as soon as possible. Please note that I am not interested in CTI and OTS is pretty much a lottery ticket.

Cheers.

Sorry but you got your facts wrong. Enlisted Air Force will get you a CTO if you go Tower and the radar training is just as good if not better. The Officer route does not gurantee a CTO, and if you do get one as an Officer it will be fake. Officers in the USAF rarely work traffic.

LOL... a very small percentage of officers actually get a chance at a CTO and Definitely not through command and control. The only ones who even get a shot at getting a CTO are AOF officers (Airfield Operations Flight). Also, going the officer route will commit you to alot more than 6 years.

Your best bet is either enlisted duty USAF or NAVY in my opinion.

If you are at a position to go Officer, you must have a 4 year degree. If that is the case, IMO, you should go through a quick, cheap CTI school, and be able to start applying in less than 2 years, instead of a minimum of 5 years through the military.

6 years of life and soul? Don't even bother. You probably should become an officer, you'll be better off. Douche's that make statements like that do nothing but annoy us controllers.

Better yet, enlist, and make it a point to tell everyone you know in ATC that you are just there to do 6 years and go to the FAA..that's the fastest route to getting rated.

lolwat?

less e-rage please.

you might consider staying in the airforce. just because someones goals in life differ from yours, it doesn't make them a douche.

i do have a degree.. do you honestly think it'd be better for me to go to a CTI school?
isn't it really expensive?
only 2 years?
then I am FAA approved? (As well as DoD oand contract?)
