Ask a Marine Instructor

Hello everyone on Stuck Mic. My name is Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Kurtis Young. I have been in the Marine Corps for eleven years, all as an air traffic controller. I have been a radar supervisor at MCAS Yuma Arizona which is a joint civillian and military use international airport. I have also been a radar supervisor for two tours to Al Asad Iraq. After that I was an instructor at the Navy/Marine Corps ATC school in Pensacola, FL. Currently I am the Terminal Instrument Approach Specialist for Marine Corps Installations West. I look forward to reading and answering any questions you may have about ATC or the Marine Corps.

Hey SSgt, Wittenberg here, how do you like your new billet? I was really hoping to get that job but it didn't work out for me.

Hey man,

Its a pretty boring job. I do very little terps but a whole lot of reports and trackers. Where are you at now?
