153rd Airlift Wing ANG Base, Cheyenne, Wy
Posted: 07-13-2009, 08:43 PM

Hello,

I am looking into joining the Air National Guard. Ive been looking into the base near my current home in CHEYENNE, Wyo the 153rd Air Lift Wing I was wondering if anyone had any information on this base?

Whats the base like?
Whats the tower facility like?
Is there a rapcon? Whats it like?
How many planes do they have a day flying in/out?
Anyone work this tower or been to it? Mind giving me some insight?

For training I believe I have to live on base or I will. Hows the living area?

Please, let me know what the base will be like.

Also, do you guys know anything about the ANG base in Klammath Falls, OR?? Could you answer questions above and tell me about that base as well?

Thanks alot guys!

There is a guy here that is from there. I'll talk to him and see if i can get some answers. Give me some time though cuz he is working the opposite shift as me so I don't see him much.

Hot, dry, and these sandstorms are starting to get old. Other than that, I just keep chugging along, collecting paychecks and paying off bills. I'm over halfway done so the end is in sight...even if it's just under 3 months away lol.

Make that two people who want info. I'm grew up in Cheyenne and think it would be awesome to work there someday, preferably as a civilian but might consider a ANG spot if the deal were sweet enough. I did a "tour" a few years ago when I was fresh out of the school house, I only saw the tower and all I can comment on is it was new. I'll let the guy who works there tell us how it really is though.

look into all 10 units...not all are hiring controllers and most offer educational incentives that are pretty sweet. for example, NC ANG will pay your tuition to state schools in addition to any money you receive from the GI Bill. so you can go to school for whatever after you get checked out while your waiting for the FAA. the ten units are in no particular order: SC, NC, NH, HI, WY, Missouri, LA, MS, OR, PA plus there are two others in Michigan that are ATC ANG but they are training units mostly
