re: Miramar Marine Corps Air Station - NKX
Posted: 08-08-2009, 03:41 PM yup, I was there for four and a half years. great facility back then, I'm sure it still is. Good traffic, became dependent upon deployments of coure. I truely believe it is the best CTO the Marine Corps has to offer. Yuma being the second. Miramar has a great core of DOD civs, some working there are the best and brightest I've worked with. Tower in Bravo airspace with GCA, seven squadrons of hornets, eight squadrons of helos, one of c-130's, then c-12"s, c-560's, T-34's too. We use to get alot of pattern traffic form north island too, mostly S-3's and C-2's. If you're talking working as a Civ it's GS-13, that's great pay but realitive of course; high cost of living.

Posted: 08-21-2009, 10:44 PM No they are not hiring any dod's. trust me. Its like the highest paying DOD ATC position there is i can think of. All of them make well over 100k. When i was there the OIC told me that he has stack and stacks of applications.

Posted: 01-30-2010, 10:18 AM I'm at NKX now. Literally, right now. Working one of those good ol random weekend watches. Not hiring. Theyve got Steve Dykhouse here for a temp job while Elge is in Japan. I'm tryin to talk one of these DODs into retiring so I can get a spot here!!!
