He'll really be screwed once the Dems get a nominee. A Democratic Senate will not be confirming more than a handful of presidential nominees past this point in the game. Even a McCain win in November sees his chances passing by as the Dems will gain enough, or almost enough, seats in November to make the Senate filibuster-proof.

Agreed. Hopefully whoever gets elected isn't unwilling to compromise on some issues like the jughead in there now. The senate has had their hands pretty well tied because the majority is barely that, and Dubya has used his veto power pretty readily since the GOP lost the majority.
Hopefully we'll get someone in there that can unify people and precipitate legitimate change. I'm not really a fan of someone holding an AARP card and being in charge of the country. Then again, I have no idea how someone can die of old age as a member of congress either. There's an age limit to get in, but not one in which you must retire. Pilots can't fly after 65 now, but they'd still be able to make life and death policy changes- Thanks... but, NO THANKS.
