GTMO's not a bad place to work if you want to make more than lets say, FAA pay. You work 12 hour shifts four days on and four days off so you have a lot of free time on your hands. The reason why you can work 12 hour shifts is because its a NAVY facility and in the NAVY you can work a 12 hour shift as long as you don't exceed your ten hours in the tower. The rest of the time you would be working flight planning which is really easy.
The four days off can be spent in the island snorkeling, SCUBA diving (the facility manager is actually a certified instructor) fishing and that type of stuff. Or you can fly back to the states if you like but it does get expensive. It's also tax free as long as you are outside of the states for the required ammount of time just like any overseas place. It's not bad for single guys or gals who are waiting for the FAA to get their
straight or for retired military guys to go work some non-existing traffic and drink their margaritas every so often.
Just like any place though it's what you make of it...
