Default Snowboard question

I know there's gotta be someone on here that is a snowboard guru. So this winter will be my first in a place that snows. There's a few ski resorts near by. I was wanting to do some snowboarding for the first time. I have no idea what kind of board (brand, size, etc) that I would want or need. I'm an absolute beginner with zero skills. I'm 5'10", 175lbs, size 10 1/2 shoe, and enjoys long walks on the beach. LOL. Anyway, any advice would be appreciated.

I would rent a board for your first time, no use on shelling out all that money for something that you end up not liking. I have a nitro naturals board with burton P1 bindings and BOA DC boots. Its a frankenstein but all goes together well (to top it off i bought a K2 bag) Start off with a board that is between your collar bone and chin thats that will make it easier for you to get around to start off with. The stuff i wear snowboarding is nice and thin but still waterproof and its much easier to maneuver(sp?) Wear some long johns under that. If you have any specific questions put em up!!!
