Geographical Preferences Question
Posted: 02-20-2010, 09:12 AM

Hello everyone. I am pretty new here but have been reading everyone else's posts for a while. I am a pilot and have already taken the ATSAT for PUBNAT8. I was wondering how I could figure out which states for my geographical preference would give me the best opportunity for getting picked. Personally, I would work anywhere in the southeast but would prefer TN, especially Memphis or any fast paced facility. Any help would be great.

The FAA doesn't release staffing levels to the public. Your best bet would be to call facilities and ask. FAA Contact Directory

There aren't really any states left that will give you any kind of advantage based on individual staffing needs. Pretty much every facility is loaded down with trainees and also has a long line of people waiting with TOLs. Your best bet is just to pick states with a large amount of ATC positions, not necessarily openings. NY, FL, TX, and CA.

I heard TX is a pretty bad place to live....I'd stay away from that one

I heard that there is a saturation of new hires trying to go to FL. Is this true?
