clearance question
Posted: 02-26-2010, 12:02 PM Is it possible to find out if I will be able to pass the FAA's medical clearance ahead of time?
I'm about to enroll in CTI and I would hate to waste all that money on a degree that I can only use for ATC. I'd like to know that I could pass my clearances for sure. |

Re: clearance question
Posted: 02-26-2010, 12:07 PM Yes, you have to go to one of these doctors and get a class 2 medical. That's what's required for ATC and to get your PPL, if you pass then your good to go. AME Locator

Posted: 02-26-2010, 12:31 PM what about the rest of the clearances? Any way to be sure about those as well?

Re: clearance question
Posted: 02-26-2010, 12:33 PM PPL only requires a Class III, but yeah what Golf said, look into getting a Class II flight physical. Check out this site for for good info: FAA ATC Medical Certification / Air Traffic Controller Medical Standards

Re: clearance question
Posted: 02-26-2010, 01:08 PM You could get online and run a background check on yourself for like $20 and get all three of your credit reports together and make sure they are good. Other than that I'm pretty sure everything else is up to the FAA.

Re: clearance question
Posted: 02-26-2010, 05:40 PM There's a website that talks about what goes into a sec clearance. I'll post it when I get home.
