The ASAP is the general on-line application process for all FAA positions (not just 2152's). The ATO hiring focus (geo prefs) is intended to place new employees in the geographic area/state where the applicant wants to live. This is intended to reduce future relocation/retraining costs.

Yeah, I've heard the same about TX and FL, but I've also heard that NY and CA are backed up as well.

UT is absolutely not hiring. I live a mile from the airport here and have been bugging tower/tracon and center. Tower/tracon is no longer hiring anyone new, they're only taking transfers, and Center says they aren't hiring for another year, maybe two.

I've been busting my butt to get in here, but I finally relented and changed my state selection on my CTI app. Don't waste a geo pref, UT is out for this round.

However, the DM here in UT did say that CA had about 100 spots to fill on this panel, based on her connection in a district there. That's what she recommended to me. Get in at CA, then transfer back.

I cant talk for tx, fl, the carolinas and all that. But the midwest is in way worse shape. Ive talked to enough facilities around here with trainees backedup until 2012 because of very very low traffic counts. DTW tower alone has half the amount of guys that are in the tower actually waiting for training!

Hmmmm. So TX, FL, the Carolinas.... the midwest.... northeast, southeast and west coast are all over staffed. Doesn't really leave a whole lot else, does it?

From what I've heard they both are. I have MI down now on my CTI app but I'm strongly considering changing it after talking to the ATM at Detroit.
