Eh, people should pick what states they want to live and and can afford to live in.
BTW, everybody seems to use "hiring" differently than the FAA. NM didn't do selections in Oct. 2009, but they did in March 2010. I know of four or five people who were picked up for ROW and I was picked up for another facility in the state. ROW has how many controllers? 20? Yea, they selected a good number. The reality is they probably won't select any more. Hire? Well, a few of those people will make it to OKC in the next fiscal year... that is what the FAA uses the term "hire" for, it seems. I would be very careful of putting down a state with a few facilities that has just recently gone to panels and selected quite a few people... UNLESS you really want to work there. Especially just because somebody on a forum says so. I'm with RC on NM. |

Re: What will be your Geo-prefs?
Posted: 09-02-2010, 01:43 PM I just realized something. New Mexico is in the central service area, not the western, that's why the lady from the western service area didn't mention anything about it. I got an email back from one of the ATMs on the central service area en route board, and he said that the selection numbers are not set in stone (I got the feeling that this is a topic they are discussing at the meeting that a bunch of the ATMs are at this week down in DFW) but that the most likely states that the central en route people will be selecting for at this panel are NM and OH.

Re: What will be your Geo-prefs?
Posted: 09-03-2010, 10:44 AM NH and NY. I'd like to live in those places. I thought about a variety of other states because my fiance is from CA and I have family sort of scattered around... but I grew up in the northeast. I like it here. And my fiance was happy with those choices as well.
