Who is going to ZKC? (Kansas City Center)

Received these two emails from MG and LH today. Thought you guys might benefit from reading them. These are copied and pasted. My stats are in my sig for reference.

From MG:

"I'm sorry, but I wish I had better news for you, but ZKC is only getting 10 new hires for FY11. Unfortunately, you are 19th on the list. If there are any changes, or if I am able to get you into class during FY11, I will contact you."


From LH:

"Sorry for the late reply to your email. Since receiving my hiring numbers for next fiscal year my email and phone have been going off non stop.

ZKC did not request anyone for next year. This could be because of budget, the economy and people not wanting to retire. What this means is that I have to wait until next fiscal year and hope I have more hiring numbers that include your facility. If there are any changes I will do my best to pass the information along"

I have you beat at 14th in line! I shouldn't have waited this long and I almost definitely can't do another year. Nothing came up for me in the last year and now I get to hope that I'm not too old/broken for the military. Congrats to the people in the top 10(8 from what people at ZKC are hearing).

Well I guess this means I shouldn't put Kansas down on my geo pref. Fine by me though since I grew up in Overland Park/Olathe and want some new scenery. I drive by that place all the time though...such a lovely work of architecture. The barb wire really brings out the red in the brick.

Has anyone been called to start training yet? I called MG a couple of weeks ago to check what the status was. She told me that there were only 10 slots open for new trainees this year and that I was one of them (she didn't say exactly which number). I asked when I might start training and she told me she couldn't tell me exactly, that it was more than 90 days away. Anyone hear anything else?

If I remember correctly you were Pubnat 6...Is that right? When did you get your TOL? I have not spoken to MG in a few months, but I will try touching base with her. I'll let you know what I find out, and please let me know if you hear anything new.

Pub 5 or 6, I don't remember, 6 seems right. I received my TOL on June 11, 2009.

I heard from one of my roommates today that they're down to 6(originally 10) new hires coming in this fiscal year.

I interviewed at ZKC a few weeks ago with T.V. He was really easy going and everyone there seemed to be really nice. I wouldn't mind going there if I didn't have family in Tennessee. I'm headed to ZME...supposedly.

Anyone hear anything else lately? Is it really down to 6 for the year instead of 10? I have tried calling MG for the last several weeks and she doesn't answer or return my calls or email.
