Panels in February
Posted: 11-16-2009, 09:46 PM

I called OKC today and asked about when the testing would end she said mid December, like everyone said on stuckmic. So, I asked about geo prefs she said end of Dec early Jan. Then I asked about panels she said tentatively early to mid Feb. It would be great if this true but I find it hard to believe. If this is true do you think they might have refined the process compared to earlier pubnats or do you think the hr lady was blowing smoke to shut me up and get me off the phone? Also to the previous pubnat applicants out there do you think that pubnat8 is going faster than previous ones?

I'm leaning towards option b...blowing smoke...

can't really make heads or tails about the streamlining of the process since many facilities have a slew of developmentals and that OKC has a back log of trainees...

Hell yeah! I find that ridiculous that pubnat8 gets their testing done about a month or two earlier. I'd say pubnat8 needs to sit on the sidelines until pubnat7 gets their chance. Hehe just kidding... I'm also part of pubnat8 so that wouldn't do any good and it's not my call anyway.

Panels will not be until April! Spoke to an ATM yesterday and she said pubnat 8 panels will be in mid to late april and they will be hiring for fiscal year 2011 and training would be in Oct 2010. I know she is accurate due to the fact I have been in touch with her since Feb and everything she has told me has been right on! After all she will sit in on the panels, so I am sure she knows her stuff!

I tend to believe kcouey as I've now heard that from a few different sources.

I also believe kcouey. I'm pessimistic about the whole process. Also, I don't know if I'll still be around waiting in April, much less until 2011. Maybe if nothing else comes up career-wise. If panels are in Jan/Feb, I might be able to hold on.

Oh stick in there! It's a long process but well worth the wait!

Well that's sounds great at least someone has a good contact. All my friends in the FAA are young bloods and can't really give allot of solid answers. Thanks for the info.

I know, I know. I just get frustrated with the prospect of being underemployed for the next year and a half. I really want to make it as an Air Traffic Controller, it's my dream and goal. The wait is extremely frustrating, though.

At what stage do you have to be in the process before your 31st birthday, is it your tentative offer letter you need, or your formal offer letter?
