Just had my interview!
Posted: 11-17-2009, 05:30 PM so i was called today at 12:05
HIM: Hey Tony. This is the manager of the tower where your going to interview... I'm calling to set up an interview. When will be the best time for you to do this.... me: I'm off today and tomorrow so I could come in tomorrow if you can do it then. HIM: Well I'm going to go fishing tomorrow so thats a no go can you make it in today? I'm not trying to pressure you or anything so if you can't totally say no. ME: No thats fine I have no plans today, and i have been waiting a year for your call! HIM: How about 1:45 today, will that work? ME: I'm on my way! Thank you! so 1 hour and 20 mins later I'm at the tower and shaking hands with him.... first thing he said was why did you get dressed up (nice slacks, shirt and tie) my response this is an interview for the rest of my life.. dress for success! then he sent me up for a tour of the tower cab. i met everyone there and they all asked me questions about me and my passed. why i wanted to be a controller and this is all in between them controlling traffic. just normal chit chat. i was up there for about 15 mins... and they got a call for me to come back down to his office. I walked in and he was on the phone. he hung up and said ... "why do you want to be a controller?" i started to answer my pre-prepared answer.. of career and yada yada... he stopped me... "NO, not that answer your true from the gut answer!" so i answered "Well then, I'm tired of wasting my life away without a career and want to make some money!" to which he said " Thats the answer I'm looking for" he asked me some about me questions and then said " I will get you hired. I will do everything in my power to get this done for you and will write you a glowing review to where HR thinks you walk on water" he gave me his card and said "I will be your mentor and will help you with any questions you have through out the process from that do I do next to hey I need to go fishing! just call me"... so I'm feeling pretty good about this one! and I'm going fishing tomorrow! i walk out and look at the clock. its 1:50! wow. anyone find this to be the weirdest interview ever? anyone else have anything to share? i thought this would be a good thread to start up seeing how they aren't doing the PEPC's anymore! |

Posted: 11-17-2009, 06:15 PM Wow!!! My interview was very " by the book " It was in Memphis at ZME and my interviewer was very direct and read all questions from the list provided. But, all in all it was still good... U got lucky

I'm still shocked at how fast and easy it all happened! i saw that list you were talking about... but it was on his desk he did open it to verify he didn't need anymore info from me before i left. have you heard from HR on any other steps? med?

Posted: 11-17-2009, 07:46 PM hey thats how it happens with ATC, the weirdest out of the way stuff can and will happen...good luck and let us know what happens next....you were a vet pref or had prior military atc exp right?

Posted: 11-17-2009, 09:50 PM yes im mil vet with atc exp. that didn't even come up in the interview. and no he didn't know where im going. i did ask him. he said that he would see what he could come up with but not to hold my breath as they normally don't get that info it comes from HR. i will deff post my next steps... on my way home i was like having withdrawals from here i wanted to post what just happened to me so you guys could read it as no one understands what we go through other than us!
 im still shocked at how that went! |
