Timetable for new batch of OTS
Posted: 11-20-2009, 03:34 AM

I'm a fresh OTS applicant and I just scored a WQ on my AT-SAT, I was just curious how much time it would take for the ball to get rolling in starting the screening/interview process and making my way to the Academy. I know CTI apps get preference but I was wondering if the higher an OTS scores on the AT-SAT the shorter amount of time it takes to be contacted.

Thanks

Scoring high is no gurantee of anything. People get 100s pretty frequently and are passed over. From where you are in the process it can still take a year or more...

Welcome to stuckmic! Assuming you are PUBNAT8, you've got a long way to go. To give you a brief overview of what it takes, since i've changed my signature i'll inlcude the dates when each happened for me so you can get an idea.

Application 7/08
ATSAT 1/09
Geographic Preference 3/09
Referral List 4/09
Invite to interview 5/09
TOL 8/09
FOL still waiting
Class date still waiting

as you can see its been well over a year already and there has been no mention of a class date. this is by no means a fast process, best thing you can do is just continue on with your life and take it as it comes.

your score has no impact on when you are contacted...they group everyone together

have a look around the site, there is a TON of information about the whole process. Good luck!

you've passed that atasat...

everyone who passes the atsat gets a geo. pref email to pick where you want to work...

everyone who fills out a geo pref is put on a referral list(which is what they look at when making selections)...

if you're selected you get the invite to interview email...

at this point it is out of your hands, unless you find little ways to tweak your application.

Some people have had success meeting the ATM at a facility where they really want to work, getting a tour, staying in touch, and convincing that person why they should be hired. Then again, it seems that most often works if you have something of value to offer -- you have a CTO in hand and/or you're a military controller. If you're just OTS, that probably won't accomplish much, but you can try anyway if it makes you feel better.

My current time table:

6/08 - applied
9/08 - AT-SAT test
12/08 - PEPC Invite
3/09 - PEPC / TOL Given
Current news - my facility not hiring for FY2010. Waiting till beginning of 10/10 now.

Check my sig for my timeline. Over 15 months so far and still no start date. Do not expect to get the job. You scored WQ, that only means that you might have a chance. The last panel didn't even take anyone who applied OTS. So everyone in that group who got a 100 on the ATSAT and put down states that really need people don't even get a chance. If you really want the job go to a CTI school or enlist.

I can't remember how many times I've seen this statement appear on StuckMic but I can no longer support it after the previous panels. I'm already close to deciding an about-face on my CTI ambitions.

One day I hear CTI/vet prefs people get shot down or picked up, another day OTS people get shot down or picked up, and then I hear this?

I'm wondering if you all were both under the same Pubnat... but yall had a month diff for the application date.

I'm seeing that the time frame for Pubnat 8 is showing a bit quicker... ALL tests will be taken before the end of THIS year. The only way that the theory of a yar and a half time frame could ring even a lil bit true would be if the wait time after the Selection panel emails and the interviews are like 6 mos...

With the current speculations, the panels would occur about 6 mos after the first test was taken.

Its been streamlined, just a wee bit...

But all speculations will be put to rest when folks start posting more threads titled "I got my Geo Pref email, what do I do now?", "I made referral list for the United States, when do I get my interview?", etc.

We ALL must be natural gamblers here to take this on...and want it.
