Just make sure you take whatever facility they offer you.

A ATCer from ZAU told me that if they give you an offer and you turn it down that they will NEVER give you another offer. They feel you arent a "team player."

I know for sure that isn't true. Several people from StuckMic have turned down offers and gotten another offer from a different panel. It's not as likely, but it does happen.

Personally I'd be very hesitant to turn down anything though.

That might have been in the past, but I wouldnt trust it now with so many people applying. They will probably put your application in the circular file!

My father (Retired Controller) said the same thing. If you get an offer and turn it down, then that's it... you're out.

I don't plan on turning any offers down, which is why I plan on picking only one state: Alaska. I'm not going to take a chance on getting set somewhere I would really hate (even though they could still send me anywhere).

That might usually be the case, but I did see someone post that he pulled off turning down one offer and then getting another in a different state in the next panel. I think he was on JC, and I'm pretty sure he had vet pref, which I'm sure helped.

I sure wouldn't bet on getting a second opportunity though.

Here's a question: If I pick two particular states in which I prefer to work, will they only offer me a position if one is available? Say if I choose Louisiana and Arkansas, would they offer me another position in another state if those two states have none? I have made it abundantly clear to anyone who listens that I will move in a heartbeat. TIA.

From what I've read on SM, it's not uncommon at all for people to get an offer at a random state OUTSIDE of their two choices. As to the reasons behind that, I have no idea. I would assume that this means there are no positions in your two states, but with the FAA, who knows?

Just a 'basic' aspect of the OTS process: there is NO guarantee whatsoever of getting an offer just because you pass the AT-SAT and move on to geoprefs. Even after you get the TOL, you've got MEDICAL, BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, INTERVIEW, ACADEMY, etc. The chance of getting an offer in the first place is pretty much speculation. From everything I've seen, it's probably 5-10% maximum.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you were getting at(?), but I hope it clears things up a bit!
