PV coming up... who is nervous
Posted: 01-25-2009, 02:45 AM

Haven't seen any threads about the PV recently so thought I would start one. Pv-ing in a few weeks and hopefully everything goes smooth. I wish they spent more time in the radar labs and less time doing non-radar, non-radar, what a stressfull waste of time (although you do need the fundamentals of it to take to the radar labs with you).
Any comments about the PV???

I'm nervous man, and I have not even started OKC yet.

By the way, these pv threads are all about the enroute pv, I never see anything about the towercab one. It is shrouded in mystery.

PV Jan 29th here, en route. Not too nervous, just the anticipation of it coming is pretty fun lol.

the center PV wasn't a big deal. if u can keep your nerves in check, find the conflicts, and pass the military change of destination you will be fine.

you walk in. you sit down. your pen shakes for about 30 seconds and then you kill it. next thing you know it's 843 on the clock and the evaluator is asking if you want a break. that's all there is to it.

oh, and r-man says don't :p:p:p:p up.

well, no horror stories... just be sure not to land a cherokee on top of a
B747, I saw that happen and although a good idea, being that the cherokee had plenty of aircraft to land on, for some reason they exploded and the instructor didn't like it. I'm still trying to figure out why... Maybe he should have landed him on the wing instead... who knows.

In all seriousness, by the time you get around to your PV, you'll feel ready. You might be a little nervous, but as long as you keep the flow simple (i.e. 28L patterns, with an occasional extend downwind or 360etc.) and don't try the squeeze play (unless you know what you're doing), you'll be fine, just be sure to limit your creativity. I was landing guys on 34, SODO (10L/10R ops with guys for 28L/28R), guys on downwind for 16, etc. It was fun, but once I got to the PV I kept it very simple. Do that and you'll be fine.
