Hotel answers for kc pepc

hello all. i am from KC (or near). i wanted to help all of you out with hotel options since this site has been a big help to myself and others. what you need to know is that the PEPC location is in downtown KC. this can be a very hectic and confusing place to be. you will be there during rush hour, and there are a lot of one way streets. here's the other thing. if you want to stay close to the PEPC, you are going to PAY to stay close. the cheapest hotel that i found is $100/night. that may not be much for some of you, but to those of us who know the city and suburbs, that is kinda pricey. the comfort inn and suites is .2 miles from the location and is the cheapest. the marriott, the hilton, and hotel phillips are .5 miles away but range from $129-$179/night. hope this helps! let me know if you have any questions.

Try using Hotwire.com We wanted to stay at the Wyndam where the test was done at Peachtree City, GA. But it was a little pricey. SO we booked on Hotwire and got the Wyndam for $60 a night! Of course, you don't know where you're staying until you book, BUT it will let you choose an area.

Just a thought.

good idea. i would hate to be stuck outside of downtown that early in the morning though.

How is the transportation system like? Are taxis the way to go? I am looking at hotwire and I found a room I might choose, however I think its the hyatt which is 1.5 miles from the FAA building. Any recommended hotels or has anyone else booked somewhere?

Also, if I were to stay at the airport, is it difficult getting downtown? Its about 15 miles, and my PEPC time is at 9am. So is that being considered stuck outside downtown and is it late enough that if I get a taxi early I won't have a problem?

I have a two rooms booked at the comfort inn..... I will not be worrying about traffic that morning or anything...... I just want to relax that night so I am on my A+++ game that day....

I had a reservation for a hotel at the airport, but after finding out the drive time and the fact that I am scheduled for 7am on the 17th, I decided that I better move it down town. Thanks for the heads up cboy40!

I think I am going to end up staying there as well. The proximity is ideal.

lazer, if you are wanting to save the money, and have a 9 am appointment, then you could stay at the airport. that wouldn't be a bad thing for you because you have to take a cab anyway. what you want to stay away from is taking a cab to a hotel, and turn around and take a cab to the PEPC. you will probably wind up spending what you would save on a room, AND have to get up earlier.
