Default Traditional Route (PUBNAT2 folks)

Well, since a few of us didn't make it in for the Kansas City PEPC and have opted not to wait the three months for the Los Angeles PEPC I figured we could start a thread about how we progress through this process.

I received the following email immediately after speaking to the person (well someone covering for her anyway) who sent the email that notified you where you were selected. If you haven't received it yet, I'd suggest you try and call.

"Thank you for responding to our inquiry regarding an interview for the air traffic control specialist position with the FAA, and indicating that you wish to proceed through the traditional interview process.

If you provided changes to your personal information, we have updated our records and provided that information to Aviation Careers Division. However, you also need to update your information in ASAP.

You will be contacted within the next few weeks to schedule your interview at the (name, code and location of the interview facility XYZ Facility in local city, state.

The interview will take approximately one hour. You must be recommended as a result of the interview before any further processing takes place. Once you have been successful, you will receive a tentative offer letter from the Aviation Careers Division. This letter will include instructions and forms for obtaining your medical and security clearances and completing your pre-employment processing.

All questions dealing with salary, benefits, facility placement, class dates, forms and form completion should be directed to the Aviation Careers Division. That same office will track the completion of your paperwork, and, if the results are positive, they will make you a firm offer.

Good luck in the interview process. "

I believe she said that they will be sending notification emails to the centers where your interview will be on Monday and Tuesday next week. Hopefully we can get the interview scheduled within a week or so after that. I think the most important part to realize about this process is that we have to stay on top of HR and make sure everything gets pushed through.

Good luck guys (and gals)!!!

I am going the traditional route as well. I got that same email. I called and spoke with them, they said it does not take any longer it is just more leg work on your part. I hope the interview will have the same type of questions as the PEPC.

Yeah, me too. Are you going to interview at the same place you were selected for? This could be a benefit if you've already toured that facility and met the person that you'll interview with!

No, I got selected for Dayton Ohio tower. I live in New Hampshire. They are going to set me up a interview for the Manchester, NH tower. I didn't tour the facility.

I'm going the traditional route as well, mainly because I couldn't wait for the Los Angeles PEPC due to my birthday. I was told I should have an interview and TOL in hand before mid-December, which is just fine by me.

The e-mail I have received indicates that I will interview at Atlanta Center, which was the facility I wanted in the first place. I ended up with ZME....grrr.

I already have my TOL for indy, I just did my drug test and set up a date with the flight surgeon....they send you a check off sheet with dead lines and contacts for you to go at your pace...it has been going pretty smoothly for me after my interview...also I am not sure but I don't normally think you can interview at the facility you are going to...I could be wrong. But after you get that interview email, it took me like 3 weeks until I could actually set up an interview...then about two weeks after that to get more paper work to fax back to receive the TOL. The background investigation is gonna be the #####.

That is what happened to me....I was supposed to go to a different place but I had a knock out interview and had it switched.....My advice is ask if there is anyway to get a transfer to that particular facility...it worked for me.

I've known three people personally who've gone the non-PEPC route due to various circumstances, and all three were interviewed by the terminal operations manager at the facility they were selected for (two went to towers, 1 went to an up/down's TRACON), and not the ATM facility manager. I'm not sure how this would go for en-route, though.

Yes, they saw people they already knew from their tour, and I'll agree, it's a direct advantage.

It will all depend on who interviews me. I have already spoken to the facility manager at ZTL and he said there's not much that he can do for me at this point. But I will certainly ask!

FWIW, there is at least one person over on ########## that went non-PEPC and interviewed at the facility he was to be working at.

Pants81, what are some of the questions they asked in the interview?
